🏥 Medicare Connectivity via Blue Button

AbilityHUB supports Medicare data connectivity via the Blue Button® initiative. This feature allows authorized clients and care teams to securely access Medicare claims, benefits, and other health data directly through the app.

Benefits include:

  • Access to official Medicare records in one place

  • Improved coordination of care among your care team

  • Enhanced accuracy in care planning and documentation

Blue Button® is an industry-standard program that allows individuals to safely download or share their Medicare information electronically.

Patients can link their Medicare account to share health coverage data — including patient info, coverage plans, and claims — with their caregiver in the app.

Accessing Medicare Data

  1. Open the AbilityHUB app.

  2. Navigate to “Medicare” or “Health Data” in the menu.

  3. Tap “Connect via Blue Button®”.

  4. You will be redirected to the official Medicare login page.

  5. Authenticate with your Medicare ID and credentials.

  6. Confirm your consent to share the data with AbilityHUB.

Only your authorized care team will have access to the data you approve. AbilityHUB does not store your Medicare login credentials.

Connect to Medicare (Patient View)

Allows users to view patient information, access Medicare coverage details, and review claims history.

Viewing Your Data

Once connected, you (and your caregivers) can view:

  • Medicare claims history

  • Part A, B, and D coverage details

  • Recent visits, procedures, or services

  • Provider information

Data is updated automatically when new Medicare information is available.

Medicare — Patient Info Tab

Post-connection view with three tabs: Patient Info · Coverage · Claims. The Patient Info tab displays: Name, Birth Date, Gender, Medicare Number, Location (ZIP), Medicaid Status, Reference Year, Status (Active, shown in green), and Last Updated date.

Medicare — Coverage Tab

Lists all coverage plans pulled from Medicare. Each plan card shows the plan name (Part A, B, C, D), active status badge, coverage period dates, and a View Full Details link for the full plan breakdown.

Medicare — Claims Tab

Displays a financial summary at the top: Total Claims count, Total Charges, and Total Payments. Claims are categorized by type (Inpatient, Hospital Outpatient). Individual claim cards show date, provider, total amount, payment, status badge, and a View Details link.

Medicare — Not Yet Connected (Caregiver View)

Shown to the caregiver when the patient hasn't connected their Medicare account. An orange warning card instructs the caregiver to advise the patient to open AbilityHub and connect from the Medicare section.

Security & Privacy

  • Encrypted transmission ensures your data is protected in transit

  • Role-based access control limits visibility to authorized caregivers and staff

  • Audit logs record all access for compliance and security
