# Checklists

Checklists in [FieldWorker](https://app.gitbook.com/o/l66ooAirOIZbkkTyDA8V/s/FKFmA5xK4sMCcp1WP4Kc/fundamentals/concepts/checklists) serve as a task management framework, allowing agencies to break down complex objectives into specific, actionable steps. They ensure that no critical action is overlooked, providing a clear roadmap for staff to follow until a larger goal is achieved.

#### 1. Integration with Monitoring Tools (MTs)

The most powerful feature of the [Checklist](https://app.gitbook.com/o/l66ooAirOIZbkkTyDA8V/s/FKFmA5xK4sMCcp1WP4Kc/fundamentals/concepts/checklists) system is its automatic link to the [Monitoring Tool (MT)](https://www.google.com/search?q=https://app.gitbook.com/o/l66ooAirOIZbkkTyDA8V/s/FKFmA5xK4sMCcp1WP4Kc/fundamentals/concepts/monitoring-tool).

* Automatic Capturing: When a Support Coordinator identifies a follow-up item while completing an MT, the system automatically converts that item into a standalone checklist task.
* Audit Continuity: This creates a direct bridge between a "Finding" during a monthly visit and the "Action" taken to resolve it, ensuring that compliance gaps are closed without manual re-entry.

#### 2. Independent Tracking & Lifecycle

Once a checklist item is created—whether automatically from an MT or manually—it functions as an independent unit of work:

* Mobile Visibility: These items appear in the "Checklists" section of the [FieldWorker mobile app](https://app.gitbook.com/o/l66ooAirOIZbkkTyDA8V/s/FKFmA5xK4sMCcp1WP4Kc/fundamentals/concepts/checklists) for the assigned employee.
* Real-Time Status: Staff can simply "tick off" items as they are finished. This status update is reflected immediately in the web app for supervisors to see.
* Granular Oversight: Because they are tracked independently, managers can see which specific follow-up items are pending even if the original MT that triggered them has long been finalized.

#### 3. Creating Manual Checklists

While MTs generate items automatically, coordinators can also create checklists for any standard operational need via the [New Task](https://app.gitbook.com/o/l66ooAirOIZbkkTyDA8V/s/FKFmA5xK4sMCcp1WP4Kc/fundamentals/concepts/checklists) menu:

1. Navigate to "New" in the side panel and select "Task."
2. In the "Basic Details" tab, enter the Task Title and Description.
3. Under "Type of Task," select "Checklist" from the dropdown menu.
4. Assign it to the relevant Employee and Customer.

By utilizing [Checklists](https://app.gitbook.com/o/l66ooAirOIZbkkTyDA8V/s/FKFmA5xK4sMCcp1WP4Kc/fundamentals/concepts/checklists), your agency ensures that "monitoring" leads directly to "action," creating a closed-loop system for participant care and compliance.

#### Add a new task under the "New" section

Go to "New" in the side panel, followed by Task.

When creating a task, you can define the type of task in question. One possible type of task is a "Checklist".

This will mean the task will appear as an item to be ticked under the assigned employee's "Checklists" section in the FieldWorker mobile app.
